The accolades continue to pour in for the Legacy Innovations built VW widebody Corrado! With a field of over 450 vehicles, earning Best of Show was no small feat!
We’ll let an excerpt from Lowlifestyle tell you the rest:
“With hundreds of amazing builds on display, you may think deciding who takes home Best Of Show honors would be a challenge. But from the moment this amazing RHD Corrado, which we first saw at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas, made its appearance, it was pretty much game over already. We were honored to have Steve and the crew from Legacy Innovations bring her out for her “competitive” debut. The car had only previously been seen at SEMA and the Philly Auto Show. This served as the first shots fired for the 2016 show season. VW owners should take notes the craftsmanship and attention to detail that went into this one-of-a-kind, yet still so amazingly clean and subtle build.”

The Legacy Innovations built VW Corrado received high praise from Super Street
writer Sam Du in their March 2016 issue.
“It was perhaps the most overlooked and underrated car in Vegas. Parked far in the back outside of the convention center, Troy Spackman’s ’92 VW Corrado deserved to be front and center, at least it would have been if it were at any of Europe’s top VW shows. I couldn’t stop admiring its attention to detail from the widened 2-inch metal flares, leather and alcantara interior, right-hand-drive conversion, and a Mk5 R32 24v engine swap in a ridiculously immaculate bay. Bravo, Troy!”
Look forward to seeing more of this stunning VW in the near future!

A high-level project car build is extremely complex, and when that project hits on all cylinders, the final product can be a game changer. There is a potential enemy of any build, the dreaded “project creep”, when things get added and changed outside of the original plan. Project creep can wreck a well laid out build in a second, but project creep can also take a car to new heights. Steve Smith’s 1958 Corvette code named 50Eight, created by Legacy Innovations, experienced some small positive creep that has earned it high praise and some pretty prestigious awards. Read more here…

When it comes to cars, Troy Spackman is particular.
He has to be, considering the custom requests he gets at his West York shop, Legacy Innovations . He splits his days between the office and the floor.
“I do most of the welding,” Spackman added. “Every project is different. Ultimately, that is what keeps me going.”
His latest challenge was on the TruTV reality competition “Motor City Masters.” Producers contacted Spackman several months ago, and he agreed to be part of the designer/builder showdown. The show premieres 10 tonight.
